I've been looking for some stills or a trailer that shows that scene for about a week now with no success. But you're right, it seems that the scene was shot in such a way that Damon appears to be spanking Julianne Moore but was actually hitting himself with the ping pong paddle. I think this scene has some promise for two reasons: (1) If he hit himself enough times to be bruised, you would expect the scene was at least more than a little brief, unless they had to shoot numerous takes and (2) Julianne Moore had always been one of my favorite actress and I've always fantasized about seeing her get spanked. Preferably when she was a little younger and not wearing a blonde wig, but you take what you can get. On the down side, these Hollywood spanking scenes, no matter how much potential they seem to have, almost always fail miserably to live up to even our lowest expectations.
